We would like to pass on some of our success, which is why we have decided to support a very special project in our anniversary year:
The non-profit association "Mbonda Lokito Kongo/Kinshasa Kinderhilfe e.V." from Würzburg, Germany, has the vision to provide children and young people in the suburbs of Kinshasa - the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo - with an opportunity to live independently and autonomously in society.
The association has built a school in the capital Kinshasa with the help of donated money. This school is currently attended by 320 students from kindergarten to 10th grade and employs 24 teachers and seven members of office staff.
In order to be able to offer the pupils a sustainable perspective, the school is to be expanded into a grammar school in the coming years. Twelve additional classrooms and a well to supply the children with clean drinking water are planned.
The projects are financed by donations and and income from charity events of the association.
Up to now, the association had borne the running costs independently through membership fees and self-organised charity events. However, the association could not handle the mammoth task of expanding the school on its own and was therefore looking for a strong partner.
At the beginning of 2017, a contact was established with CSS AG and their CEO Michael Friemel. Impressed by the previous activities of the association, the company decided to support the activities of the association in Congo.
