E-learning: Are we about to encounter the educational revolution of the 21th century?

The results of modern learning psychology are in favour of a combined learning process uniting the benefit of both a teaching personal contact person and the advantages of digital learning elements.

E-learning is bigger than movies

E-learning, however, is not only about making colourful movies and programming animations, implementing chat and video systems in our educational system or uploading PDFs and work sheets making them available to learners.

It is a much bigger issue! Thanks to the enormous amount of data accumulated by a well-programmed e-learning environment, with the use of artificial intelligence you can program learning systems which will continuously become better and better.

Starting E-learning

At the beginning of the individual learning process, the learner’s competence is analyzed and then he is provided individually-tailored exercises. His progress is constantly analyzed and he is given direct feedback immediately.

The last three month demonstrated an extremely fast increase in use and acceptance of online-learning processes and tools. Schools, universities and business training courses used e-learning platforms or course management systems, i.e. mostly free open source software packages designed to help educators provide effective online training.

On one hand there are courses in which trainers teach trainees in live video conferences or live chats on the other hand we have digital learning processes using elements like pre-recorded lecture content, videos, quizzes simulations, games, activities or other interactive elements.

But still – as experts in brain neuroplasticity * have found out – e-learning, just as any learning process in general, will always be a matter of curiosity, interest and pleasure: “The mind is like a parachute, it works best when it is open”!

*  the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experience or following injury.
