The year 2016 is almost over and we are all more than ready for a few days off, quality time with our families and a lot of delicious food. That sounds terrific, but let’s face the fact: most of the time holiday season is anything but peaceful and relaxing. Actually it might be the most stressful time of the year for some of us. Buying presents, organizing or maybe even cooking family dinners, getting all the urgent things at work done before the end of the year: all of this is anything but relaxing. And in the blink of an eye December turns into a stressful nightmare.
But it does not have to be that way. You can do something to take some pressure off your shoulders and really get into the relaxing holiday spirit. So here are just three ideas for unwinding this year’s holiday season:
Ok, it is absolutely impossible not to buy gifts for friends and family, because they surely are buying gifts for you too and if they give something to you but you have nothing for them … well, you are in trouble. So no gifts are not an option, but you can make the shopping a lot less stressful by simply shopping online.
That does not solve the problem of finding the right gift in the first place (unfortunately that will always remain, unless you can afford a private shopper), but at least you won’t have to cope with the insane masses of aggressive people in the shopping malls and city center streets, desperately searching for the right presents themselves.
Let someone else cook
It sounds a bit unusual, but it really is one of the easiest ways to take some stress out of your holidays. So you could convince someone else in your family to do the cooking for you or you just go out for your Christmas or New Years Eve dinner. The best part about it is that everybody gets to eat what he or she wants. You don’t have to pay attention to their diet habits; you can just enjoy the festive meal.
The best time of the year for just not reading emails and doodling with your phone are the holidays. The reason is quite simple: Almost everybody has better things do to than to write emails – and so should you.
It is important that you take some time off during the holidays. A new year is coming and therefore a new chance to conquer all your goals. So sit back, relax, unwind, recharge and keep your hands off your mobile devices.
